Office 2021 with a permanent service for users has been released by Microsoft today. Businesses and governments will be licensed to use the Microsoft Office Long Term Service Channel (LTSC) for both Mac and Windows with availability. Only in October did this service appear to serve personal computers at home.
If regular Office versions will come with Microsoft 365 or Office 365, this newly launched Office LTSC 2021 will be completely different and do not need to come with any service packs like other versions. It was created and specifically designed for organizations that have a large number of users of this software. You do not need to use Office LTSC 2021 once you have signed up for “Microsoft 365 Apps for business” (Office 365 ProPlus).
The Microsoft Office Long-Term Services Channel (LTSC) for Windows and macOS was well analyzed this morning by Microsoft 365 Corporate Vice President, Jared Spataro. He said that LTSC builds won’t have some of the features for your business and organization like subscription models with Microsoft 365 Apps, cloud-based features being a prime example.
Spataro said: “While [Office LTSC] offers performance improvements and expanded accessibility. It will not offer the cloud-based capabilities of Microsoft 365 Apps like real-time collaboration and AI-driven automation in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as security and compliance capabilities that give added confidence in a hybrid world.”
“This Microsoft Office LTSC release will not be our last perpetual release,” he added. In the future, the Microsoft company not only relies on the cloud to continue investing in creating productivity features and internet-connected features for Office products but also makes available software versions for devices. Maybe the company will create software that users can use without using the Internet and software updates.
